Luigi Schiavone

Luigi Schiavone

Composer, songwriter, arranger, singer… but for us – more than anything else – primarily a guitarist: it is only natural that at Jacaranda, our view of Luigi Schiavone's brilliant musical career focuses above all on his role as an instrumentalist.

Our relationship with Luigi also boasts a milestone: the very first guitar ever ordered from us as soon as we opened our lutherie workshop on Via Corsico was Luigi Schiavone’s: a blue JD, which you can easily see him pictured with in many photos and which is still proudly displayed in his (very extensive) collection of instruments today.

The impact was mutual: the beginning of a friendship (Luigi’s charm is unique) and a working relationship that has seen several important stages. Following the JD came the white JST (the one seen in the photo above), and a T-style – a JTL – which later became the guitar Enrico Ruggeri uses: it is always kept in the studio, and whenever a rhythm track is needed for their records, that is always the “right” guitar.

After all, Luigi is an extremely competent musician who is always well-informed about the market and new developments: an instrumentalist attentive to the evolution of the guitar and new solutions. For those who maintain his instruments, this often means being called upon to modify and update electronics and hardware.

For him, too, “unusual” instruments have arrived when needed, such as the electric balalaika built specifically for his performance at Sanremo (a real photo-magnet: they were always filming that one…).
