Matteo Bassi is known today in the world mainly as a bassist, but in reality, it was not in this capacity that he first approached Jacaranda many years ago. At the time, Matteo—who is a true multi-instrumentalist—came in asking to try out some guitars. It was the moment he was attempting to pursue a solo career. Some time later, when he became—alongside his drummer brother—the bassist for Laura Pausini's official tour, he returned to us with a specific request: a 4-string bass and a 5-string bass, built to his specifications, to take on tour. The basses had to be completely identical in terms of dimensions and electronics—so that stage changes would not cause any issues for the sound engineer. Strictly black, classic, with rosewood fretboards and Haussel pickups, the two “brother” basses passed the dress rehearsal with flying colors, officially becoming part of his instrument collection and beginning to travel the world (being on tour with Laura Pausini implies performing on major stages). The tour (including the basses) is documented, among other things, in a DVD: Laura Live ’09 World Tour.
We have also received orders from abroad because someone had seen Matteo's basses and, after searching online to find out who had made them, they ended up coming to us…
