Jacaranda is located on a small, restricted-access street that opens onto Alzaia Naviglio Grande, in the heart of one of the most fascinating historic parts of Milan, the Navigli district.
We arrived here in 2000 somewhat by chance (though we were coming from the Porta Romana neighborhood, another "classic" and historic Milanese area), because due to a series of circumstances we stumbled upon the shop that today houses our headquarters, but no coincidence could have been happier or luckier.
Working on the Navigli is, in fact, almost a privilege. Here, Milan still offers an ancient, almost village-like face, and during the day, before the area is invaded by the nightlife in the evening (especially in spring and summer), one can breathe a calm and serene air. It is the ideal environment to work with pleasure and to dedicate oneself to an activity—ours—that requires creativity as well as concentration and tranquility.
The large shop that houses the Jacaranda lutherie workshop features two display windows on Via Corsico. Crossing the threshold, you enter what we could call the reception area, where you are greeted, where you can find the guitars on display, and where you can try out the instruments (we have a series of quality guitar and bass amplifiers that allow for testing and comparisons). This is also the area where Luca works when he is performing setups or any activities that do not require more radical interventions or the use of varnishes or glues.
The actual lutherie workshop is, in fact, located at the back, separated from the shop area only by glass partitions, so that despite the acoustic and functional separation, there remains a visual contact with the operational heart of the workshop, much like in those restaurants with an open kitchen where you can watch the chefs at work.
It is back there that all the actual lutherie work takes place.
